From BBC News comes a report of bionic muscles, 100X the strength of human muscles. They operate in a very similar way to real muscles, consuming oxygen, alcohol and hydrogen.
It's a few years old, but Popular Mechanics has a more comprehensive article about bionics including, bionic ears, eyes, tongues and nerves.
It will be fascinating to think about all the changes this will require to everything around us. Security structures will have to be rebuilt to deal with super-human strength, laws will have to be rewritten, our social codes will have to change. Everything around us is based on a basic human type that has a well understood range of limitations.
