Trend: Driving's Starting to Suck

Pew Research has just released a study which has some evidence that our "love affair with driving" has dropped significantly in the last 10 years. Reasons include traffic, congestion, commuting, and of course, other assholes on the road. More people are beginning to view their car just as a mode of transportation rather than "something special." Interesting to note that the lowest income brackets were far more inclined to view driving as a chore (14% in 1991 to 36% today).

Otherwise know as "the tyranny of rational comparison", or "squeezing the joy out of ownership - the unintended misery that people experience from worrying too much about JD power, Consumer Reports and Edmunds"
